Sweetwater wines is one of Australia's oldest vineyards. It features a number residences that form a hamlet on the crest of Sweetwater ridge, and overlooks the picturesque valley.
Sweetwater House is without peer in Australia. Materials, fixtures, and fittings for the villa were sourced directly from southern Europe, and the home feels like an authentic French villa.
The villa features a private owner's residence, with guest-wing accommodation, and large living and dining spaces. A formal entry courtyard and four Juliet balconies add to the European atmosphere. The villa has eight bedrooms, 10 bathrooms, and parking for six cars.
Building materials include yorkstone, bluestone, limestone, cobblestone, French oak parquetry, and terracotta tiles, in keeping with the European theme.
The 122-acre property includes 39 acres of Shiraz, Cabernet and Semillon grapes, and has abundant water, including six dams, and 152 megalitres of storage.
The property is due to go to auction on 22 March. According to realestate.com.au, the owners are motivated to sell. The property was on the market last year with a price tag of $30 million.
