Oceanfront land at Greenhills Beach to be auctioned this weekend.
Living by the beach but still being within close proximity of the CBD is what makes Sydney one of the world's most desirable (and expensive) places to live. This weekend, 12 lots in the Shearwater Landing estate at Greenhills Beach in the Sutherland Shire will go to auction. The fully-serviced Torrens Title land offers the kind of coastal lifestyle that people seek when leaving the city for a seachange.
The 13-hectare site has been owned for 66 years by the Breen family, who is releasing the lots progressively and not allowing developers to buy them. There is unlikely to be such a significant release of beachfront land in Sydney ever again, says Nigel Napoli of Savills Residential Projects who is marketing the land.
Six of the lots going to auction are oceanfront blocks of more than 786sqm along Shorebird Parade, offering uninterrupted views of the 5km-long beach which is Sydney’s longest. The other six will be elevated lots with water views over Botany Bay, and range in size from 635sqm to 733sqm.
The auction will mark the second stage release at Shearwater Landing, a sensitively-conceived and meticulously-planned land subdivision between Captain Cook Drive and Shorebird Parade. The beachfront lots are expected to sell for more than $2 million each, while the other six are expected to fetch above $1.4 million.
The auction will be held on site from 10.30am on Sunday by Savills Residential Projects.
