Tom Esze is this year's REIWA Auctioneering Champion. Runner up was David Vitale, and the winner of this year's rookie award was Prash Nayar.
The Real Estate Institute of Western Australia held its 2017 Auctioneering Championships last week at the REIWA head office, and the winner in the senior category was Tom Esze, the third time he has won the coveted prize.
Runner up was David Vitale, and the winner in this year's rookie category was Prash Nayar.
Esze, who also won the REIWA's Auctioneering Championship in 2010 and 2015, and was runner up in 2016, told SCHWARTZWILLIAMS he was "elated" with the win.
"It’s always good for one’s soul to be recognised in their professional capacity," he said.
After a long afternoon of tough competition, Esze eventually emerged Victorious.

Auctioneering competitions require that competitors take part in a simulated auction. Competitors are delivered intentionally difficult bidding sequences, and are asked complex legal questions. Despite the challenging circumstances, competitors must retain their wit, charm and confidence, and to stick within a strict time limit. The competitions are more challenging than a real-life auction, as every element is designed to test the knowledge, skill and composure of the competitor.
"The competition environment is a large alternative to live auctions out in the field!" said Esze.
"Typically it’s the toughest auction an auctioneer who competes regularly would do every year. I do my best to compete every year and this is the 14th or 15th time I have done so… It’s my 3rd win and I’ve been the bridesmaid many times.
"It’s a fantastic opportunity to hone your skill-set as an auctioneer," he said.
The win is a "signpost on the professional highway that I am heading in the right direction," he said.
Esze welcomes the opportunity to compete at the finals in Adelaide in September.
He looks forward to "another opportunity to compete at the Australasian Championships and gain further competition skill-sets and of course respect from my fellow peers and agents."
