Leading independent Sydney real estate auctioneer Clarence White of Menck White Auctioneers secured a record 5th NSW Auctioneering title at the REINSW Awards for Excellence Gala dinner this week. Clarence now stands alone as the only auctioneer to win the NSW Senior Auctioneering Competition on five occasions, eclipsing the record previously held by John McGrath.
After wins in 2014, 2017, 2018 and 2020, Clarence secured the title again in 2022 edging out fellow finalists Leon Axford, Stuart Ritchie, Jake Downs and Paul Hancock. 14 competitors participated in the heats on day one, with 5 auctioneers progressing to the final on day two. The REINSW Award for Excellence in Auctioneering is adjudicated based on a live auction competition that is peer-judged by prominent leading auctioneers and real estate professionals. This year’s judging panel included Thomas McGlynn (chief judge), Jesse Davidson, Briannan Davis and buyers agent Amanda Gould.
“It’s a tremendous reward for an enormous amount of hard work. I just feel so blessed and grateful. It will be an honour and a privilege to have the opportunity to represent NSW again at the Australasian Championships. I certainly have unfinished business there. ” Clarence said.
The prestigious Australasian Auctioneering Championships are being held in Sydney this year at Royal Randwick Racecourse in October. The competition brings together a collection of the best auctioneers on the planet to compete head-to-head in a live auction competition format.
“It should be a great spectacle, I encourage anyone in Sydney with an interest in the auctioneering craft to get along and watch. They don’t come here often so this is a one in twenty year opportunity for local agents and real estate enthusiasts to come and see the event.” Clarence said.
Clarence is a four time competitor and a two-time top 5 finalist at the Australasian Championships and notably the runner up in 2017. He and Stuart Ritchie will form team NSW for this year’s event.
After 6 years calling auctions across two leading networks, Clarence established his own auctioneering business in 2018. In 2020 Clarence joined forces with auctioneer Paul Menck to form Menck White Auctioneers, subsequently adding auctioneers Emma Brown-Garrett and Paul Crawford to their stable. Menck White Auctioneers offer a premium quality auctioneering service for discerning clients across Sydney’s prestige marketplaces for both residential and commercial property auctions, conducted on-site, in-rooms and online 7 days a week.
