The Real Estate Institute of New South Wales has introduced a new insurance option designed by the members of the real estate industry for their landlord clients.
Landlords have a new form of insurance cover available for their properties, following the launch of RealtyProtect.
Developed through the Real Estate Institute of NSW, in conjunction with brokerage Jardine Lloyd Thompson, RealtyProtect Landlord Insurance was designed by representatives from the real estate industry for their clients.
REINSW Business Development Manager, John Tràni, said property managers had been "very clear" about what landlords look for in a landlord’s insurance policy and some of the key issues that can arise with rental properties.
"They expect certain ‘big ticket’ items to be covered to consider buying a policy," he said.
"JLT has worked with us to create a policy based on the feedback of property managers, that aims to meet the expectations of landlords."
Mr Tràni said RealtyProtect reflected the institution's determination to build a socially conscious insurance product.
“In the real estate industry, we’re putting people into homes every day," he said.
"With RealtyProtect, we’re taking it one step further.
"For every RealtyProtect Landlord’s Insurance policy purchased – and every subsequent renewal – REINSW and JLT will make a combined $5 donation to The Salvation Army to assist people experiencing homelessness.”
Realty Protect Landlord Insurance will also be distributed by property managers who are members of REINSW.
These property managers will arrange RealtyProtect policies as Authorised Distributors of JLT and will receive commission for policies sold.
