Classic Constructions and TT Architecture have been awarded the Home of the Year prize for Drake Brockman House at ACT Master Builders Building Excellence Awards on Friday night.
A multi-generational house in the ACT suburb of Holt has won Home of the Year at the Master Builders ACT Building Excellence Awards held on Friday night.
A joint project between Classic Construction and TT Architecture, Drake Brockman House incorporates a multi-layered pavilion style floor plan designed around an inground pool that can be accessed via multiple living spaces.
It was one of three wins on the night for TT Architecture, which also took out the Renovation $200k - $350k, Custom Home $750k - $1m, and Custom Home over $2 million categories.
Classic Constructions won Display Home of the Year for The Balcombe, located at Denman Prospect.
Nearly 1500 attendees gathered at the National Convention Centre for the awards, which are designed to recognise and acknowledge excellence in craftsmanship, quality, safety and building construction within the community.
Master Builders ACT CEO Michael Hopkins said there was no shortage of quality in this year's field.
“We’ve had a significant increase in the number of finalists in the awards, across both residential and commercial, so this year was definitely one of our most competitive yet," he said.
“Finalists are up from last year’s 151 projects to 193 this year, resulting in large raises across the board.
"The Custom Built Home category is up 136 per cent, with homes built over $1M experiencing the most growth in finalists.
“The commercial sector has also seen the same trend with Commercial Buildings projects being recognised as finalists up 120 per cent and the Commercial Fitout, Refurbishment or Alteration categories also seeing finalists up by 53 per cent."
