As they say, it could only happen in America.
The former set of the popular 1960s series 'The Beverly Hillbillies' has hit the market with an asking price of US$350 million (A$450 million).
In the long-running TV series, the neoclassical mansion was the home of Jed Clampett, the rags-to-riches hero of the show.
The house was built in 1933, and was most recently the home of billionaire Jerry Perenchio, who lived there for 30 years. Perenchio died last May.
Prior to Perenchio, hotelier Arnold Kirkeby owned the house, and he rented it out to the creators of 'The Beverly Hillbillies'.
Perenchio named the estate 'Chartwell', and revamped the home with the help of celebrity designer, Henri Samuel. The home features a sweeping driveway, a ballroom, a guest house, tennis courts, a pool and pool house, and a wine cellar.
The agents for the home are Jeff Hyland, Drew Fenton and Gary Gold of Hilton & Hyland; Joyce Rey, Jade Mills and Alexandra Allen of Coldwell Banker Global Luxury; and Drew Gitlin and Susan Gitlin of Berkshire Hathaway Home Services.
