The REIT have celebrated Tasmania's best in the industry at the 2018 Awards for Excellence in Launceston.
The Real Estate Institute of Tasmania (REIT) held the 2018 Annual Awards for Excellence at the Country Club Casino in Launceston. The evening was masterfully MC'ed by Tommy Little from The Project.
It's been an interesting year for the local property market, with housing demand soaring in Hobart, amid speculation the market is about to slow down.
“The strength of our real estate market is a reflection of the strong economic conditions which have created confidence, jobs, and positive population growth. Tasmania is now being considered as a lifestyle destination for those seeking to escape the mainland capitals," REIT President, Tony Collidge told WILLIAMS MEDIA.

Mr Collidge says the REIT Awards for Excellence are a little bit different to other industry awards.

But these only form part of the award process, which seeks to encompass a much broader spectrum by identifying areas such as the level of customer service you provide, personal development, community service, what you're giving back to the industry," Mr Collidge told WILLIAMS MEDIA.
"Putting together a nomination for an award is an extremely time-consuming process and can get stressful. All awards are judged interstate to avoid any bias, with several judges nominated for each category."

REIT CEO, Mark Berry told WILLIAMS MEDIA winners should be extremely proud of their success.
"The winners come from all over Tasmania and represent what it really means to be a member of the Real Estate Institute of Tasmania. By winning the top state award in their category, it shows they have gone above and beyond, not only in real estate but also as a member of their respective communities."

Tameka Smith of Key2Property took home the President's Award. She attributes her success to the people who have coached her throughout her career.
"I would not be here without the loyalty of my clients, being supported by what I think is the best team in real estate, by my mentors Bev Sinesi, John Abel and John Soundy for all of the coaching and support that they have given me over the past 12-24 months," she told WILLIAMS MEDIA.
Carlton Heres took home the Senior Auctioneer Award and the Achievement Award.
He says the mentoring he has received has put him on a path to a successful career.
"The training and mentoring process is all about developing who you are as a person and your communication skills, so it's been very beneficial in that way. It's introduced me to the real estate industry which has allowed me to become employed by one of the best real estate agents in Tasmania."
