JLL Australia will manage DFAT's portfolio of embassies and high commissions in 76 countries.
Global property services firm JLL has been appointed manager of The Australian Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade's (DFAT's) global property portfolio, which includes Australian embassies around the world.
The portfolio includes 95 missions, including embassies and high commissions, in 76 countries. It includes more than 1,000 properties, both owned and leased, and iconic assets such as Australia House in London, Head of Mission residences, and staff residences.
JLL's Australasian Head of Integrated Facilities Management, Chris Hunt, said JLL now manages 2.4 million square metres for the Australian government.
"JLL is honoured to have been selected as the property provider for such a highly strategic and visible portfolio that is the public face representing Australia," said Hunt.
JLL has been providing property services to the Australian federal government since 1996. With offices in 80 countries, JLL can provide facilities management, leasing, and financial management services, and has a specialised team that focuses on Australian government property.
JLL's Head of Australian Government Business, Steve Mackintosh said, "This appointment by DFAT will showcase the specialised skills of JLL in managing diplomatic office space and the associated requirements this involves in the context of national security."
Transition to the five-year contract will begin in January 2016, with full-service delivery beginning 1 July 2016.
JLL also holds property service contracts for Qantas and Telstra.
